Rebuild

I have 160,000+ miles on my engine and am going to get a rebuild kit. I've been looking around but can't really figure out which is the best, any opinions. I have a '95 Cobra SVT and eventually plan on installing a supercharger or turbo. I've been looking on Summit and plan on installing a forged kit but don't really know which one to get.

Which is better, hypereutectic aluminum pistons or forged aluminum pistons? Flat top with four valve reliefs or flat top with no valve reliefs? Or are there better pistons? The only kits I can find on Summit are Sealed Power- Federal Mogul rebuild kits

Forged is better then the hypereutectic. The hypereutectic are what are factory. I would also go with flat top with the four reliefs, I believe that should help lower your compression for when you go F/I. I would also look around at other places for rebuild. Eagle, DSS, etc are all good kits to get and typically come with everything.

Thanks, yeah I found DSS and I'm kinda leaning towards them. Their kits are the same price as Summits but their kits come with new cams, cranks and timing chains and gears. I'm going to do a search for Eagle

Summit used to carry them I guess they don't anymore. There's a guy on here named eaglestroker who I think used to be or still is a dealer for them. I'm not 100% sure on that but I think so.

Have any info on Redline rebuild kits? I found them on EBay and I don't like eBay but if anyone has used them and their good I might try them, they're pretty cheap so I'm kinda skeptical. And any info on Stage 3 Motorsports? They offer a kit capable of handling 600HP with reverse dome pistons

I haven't heard anything about either, I would personally go with dss. Remember, you get what you pay for.

Yeah, I wasn't really looking seriously at the eBay kit but the Stage 3 Motorsports kit looks good. It's $1100 and it has reverse domed pistons specifically made for S/C applications. But i don't think it comes with all of the full rebuild parts. I think it comes with a crank, pistons, connecting rods and other small stuff

Stage 3 Motorsports kits are stroker kits, they also come with SFI certified harmonic balancers and SFI certified flywheels and their crankshafts are internally balanced.

It sounds pretty good. One thing you might want to consider, is that after the rebuild (if you are building it with power adders in mind) the car might not run like you expect, it won't be bad, but it may be sluggish bc of the compression. Once you do put a power adder on it will waken up. Just some food for thought.
