I decide to take the Mach 1 out for a stroll this evening since it was nice. I took a drive down this long Avenue that is a nice drive on a Sunday with little traffic. So, as I'm sitting at the light, I hear something pull up next to me that sounds pretty stout. Its a 2 seat Maserati 'vert with V8 badges. Nice car. So, the light turns green and I hear him get on it. The road ahead is clear as far as I could see, so I gun it. Surprisingly we were neck and next until the next light. :drive: :drive: We were going to go again, but the next light was in front of a police station. :cop2: :nono: At the next light though he said wow, you've got some ponies under that hood! I said thanks, I thought you'd take me. He smiled and made the next left onto the highway.

Interesting evening.

I love to hear these stories...I think you might have got him if you would have known to gun it right away...cool story....here is what happened to me this weekend....I currently drive a 2000 Miata with the Sport Suspension package....I was crusing on I-5 at about 85 when I came up on one of my good friends in his 2003 Z06. He looks over at me and I give him a head nod and then downshift into 4th and try my best to leave him....I do...for a about 30 seconds...I'm doing about 125 and he deceides to catch me....I'm looking in my rear view and he starting to eat the space at a VERY fast rate...made me feel like I was going 65 instead of 125....but right before he catches me he has to get off on his exit...I call him later and he says "if you think that is fast then come over Thursday and check out my new Ferrari"....geez...I wish I had money like him....I'm gonna hold on to my Miata until the new Cobra comes out...I've always been a Mustang guy since I was a kid...just never been able to afford the payment and the insurance...now I can, but I want to wait until the new Cobra...

Cool story, nothin ever happens to me like that where I live, it's infested with ricers and a bunch of hardasses. :bang:

 

Same here I had a guy in an older (late '90's) Monte Carlo trying to get me to race him on the highway the other day. It was nice to just sit back and let him burn gas knowing that I could take him in a heartbeat. Same with the ricers...

 

Its rarity here too. That's about all the excitement I'll see for the next 2 years.

 

Humm....I want to have a similar experience. Maybe I'll go for a test drive.... :nono:

Just drive around Kingston in the daytime Rob. I was stopped at a redlight with a Ferrari 355 Spider next to me on Friday. To bad I wasn't in my Mustang! I always see the cool cars in Kingston. Luck SOB's ... B)

I like my insurance where it is though, so I'll be a good boy from now on.

Other than you, I don't know of anyone else on this board (except maybe Brad) that has driven a Mach 1 and not bought one.
