Need Help Fast!!!!!Possibly Buying Cobra tomorrow
Ok guys I'm new to the forum so if this has already been discussed I'm sorry. I just drove from Fayetteville, Arkansas to Springfield, Illinois to buy a 99 Cobra. I've never driven a mustang before so the test drive today was the first time. As I was test driving it I noticed a clunk or thud sound when shifting from first to second gear. It did not make the sound in any of the other gears. I've driven standards before and never felt anything like it. The car only has 84K miles on it. It the transmission going bad? I told the guy I want to have a mechanic check it out before I bought it and he said no problem. So I'm having it checked in the morning. Any help would be very much appreciated.
I wouldnt say transmission. Maybe driveshaft u-joint (my first guess) or even bad shocks, depending on how loud it is.
Do you know what if anything has been done to it?

My driveshaft used to do that with my old rear (it was a pain to get fully tightened so it would bind up right when you got on power). Obviously get it checked, but thats what I think. If it is bad u-joints, its not a terrible fix.
