Well..... 96-98 GT's only came with 215-220hp. That's around 180-190 wheel power. 99-04 GT's came with 260hp. That's around 220-230 wheel power.

PI=Performance Improvement.
Included intake, heads, throttle body...prolly other stuff.
The best bang is the PI intake.

Anyone out there know about this stuff...I am somewhat new to the 4.6L 2V Mod motors.

In addition to the PI hardware, there is always the CAI, and the headers you can do for modest gains.

If you have a BIG budget, ($3500-$5000), slap a blower on there. With a modest amount of boost, your stock motor can stand an additional 100 or so HP, without getting into the engine.

Well you can go with a blower but you will still be behind the HP curve. Even the PI heads on the 99-04's were very restrictive and didn't flow very well. Trick Flow makes great heads. They are called the Twisted Wedge heads for 4.6L 2V's. Then if you go with a blower you will create more power with less boost. Let it be noted that the stock pistons and rods will only withstand 450 HP, anymore and you run the risk of breaking them. If you do just get a blower I don't suggest anymore than running 400-450 Break HP.

Trade the car for a later year model is a very good option for attaining your stated goal..

If you had a 5.0 you could do that. But not on the 4.6.

You can do CAI w plenum and throttle, pulleys, headers w mid pipe and catback. I don't know your goals but this not going to give you a lot but will be able to have fun in the car

THIS! To much cash and work for what little HP you would get out of it. Just drive it like it is or upgrade. If I had to suggest something I would say swap out your rear gears

A tuner may help as well although I'm not sure how the 96-98 mustangs respond to tuning. But hey, it can't hurt
