I dont know if it will fit, but Simpson makes a SWEET one that has racing belts and everything. you can find them at Pepboys and I think Target.

I know my 03 is car seat ready. It has the metal brackets to hold it in. Never had to try to put on in so I can't say if one really fits or not. I just know the manual says it's "car seat ready".

I have had two different kind of car seats in the back of my 02 GT and didn't have a problem with either. OF course they were both in the forward facing configuration. I don't know how a rear facing carseat for a new born would fit. Good luck. Stangs aren't exactly a family friendly car.
