Do I have to have my EGR

Do I have to have my EGR

on my 94 cobra will the pcm pick up not having the EGR, or am i going to have a Pinging? has anyone take one off of there 94 or so and not had to reprogram anything?

i had to put a intake spacer (1/2") on to clear the valve covers and now my egr wont reach.. thats where my question is coming from.

as long as you don't have to do emissions testing no. which car is it on because I've heard that if you still have the stock heads and not running the egr the passages in the heads will get clogged

no we dont do emissions testing. 94 cobra it doesnt have stock heads it has trickflow heads. i was really wondering if i will get pinging.

i dont know if you will get pinging or not. i dont know how sensitive the computer is on a 94 cobra. i did away with the egr and passages on my 92 and had no problems. i say give it a try if it doesnt work you will have to extend the wiring somehow. let us know what happens. you also migh want to pm svopaul, i know he could tell you

Mine's a 94 gt and it does'nt ping and every bit of my smog equipment is thrown in the woods

but what kind of gas mileage do you get? i thought doing away with the egr made bad gas mileage

my 92 was similar. if i was ******* it. i got 8 mpg one time. and i took a trip on the highway and got 24 mpg. though i cant believe the MPG my 98 cobra gets. i averaged just under 30 on highway and average 22-24 around town its amazing!

ok i still got it all hooked up. i just bought an adapter for it. still might take it off. but would the secondary air system that i took off set a check engine light. it comes on here and there. and it will stay on for a bit, the go off and back and forth? any ideas?

it's probably saying EGR flow insufficient thats what the code is on mine

it shouldn't be the EGR is all hooked up correctly. ill get it tested and see what the deal is
