Thumbs down

my abs light just came on and was wondering if this is a normal thing for my year? the previous owner gave me the abs pump from a 95 cobra, so if it is that, i could install it. i was also wondering if i took my car to autozone, would they be able to tell if it's the computer or not? thanks in advance.

Could be a sensor or loose hose. I had that on my Mach when it was new.

If your brakes are still stopping perfectly normal, I would bet on it being a sensor. From my understanding when the pump goes out your brake pedal will get VERY stiff.

If it's anything like other Ford passenger cars of those years - sure someone will correct if wrong - there's a notched ring on the inner part wheel that can slip off.

I had this happen and went under the car and slipped it back on. Kept falling off so I got hi temp silicone, gooped a little on there, slipped it on again. Stayed fine until I got rid of the car years later.

What you're talking about is called an exciter ring, and it's not uncommon to see them crack.

AH HA! Goosed it with the Traction Control still on, did ya. I did, blew right front wheel sensor. Your brakes will be okay, just not abs working. Easy, painless fix.

I dont think that is the problem since I do not believe any 94 mustang came with traction control. That was introduced in '99 on 5-speed models and 01 on all models (auto and 5-speed).

You are correct Sir, there was no traction control available until 99

i believe it was an option starting in 99. if you got ABS as an option you could get traction control. in 01 they made ABS standard on GT's so most came with traction control. my wife's 00 V6 w/ auto had abs and traction control

I am also interested in this. I have a 96gt and mine will go on and off. It's kinda funny. When I go forward it goes off, when I slow down it goes on. Where is the sensor?

My ABS light came when I had larger diameter tires on the back (245/45 front, 255/50 rear). Doesn't sound like this is your problem, but thought I would throw it out there.
