I have a 2000 GT and I am in desperate need of a head unit with a GPS system. I want to know if there are some recommendations for my car. Right now, it has the Mach 460 setup in which the radio and the CD player are two different pieces, one being about four inches behind the other. What I really want is something that is hopefully easy to do, yet requires minimal changes (I have read countless forums in which people have speaker problems after changing their head units and have had to either change their speakers or install additional hardware for compatability issues). Sound quality is not an issue, as long as it does not get worse. I am constantly getting lost, and I don't like the interior in my car, so I am hoping to kill two birds with one stone here.

i also have a 2000 gt with the mach, or i should say i had the mach 460. since you have a navigation system i would find a head unit with rca aux inputs. this Sony has that, plus it changes seven different colors on a large display. i orginally wanted this but they didnt have it in when i went to the store to buy mine. this hu also has front, rear, and sub pre-outs so you can expand your system with this head unit. plus it plays mp3's. youll also need this Scosche adapter. i bought it with mine and everything just wired up the way it was supposed to. it comes with good directions from crutchfield. i am enjoying my new system while still using the stock speakers and amps. it actually sounds quite a bit better. anyway good luck, i also read a lot of posts and articles about installing an after market hu with the 460 and its a pretty easy thing to do after having done it. whatever radio you decide to put in use that adpater. it makes it a whole lot easier.

That adapter really is great. It is not that hard to install at all, a little splicing and crimping and its done. I did not install such a fancy head unit as yours but my after market one sounds great. I installed the same adpater on my freinds mustang as well and his works flawlessly as well. The hardest part is just makin room for it all in the dash, but come on now.....Great sound quality, full functionality, easy to install, and all u have to do is be careful on the placement..... thats a no brainer. And yes the adapter allows for FULL FUNCITONALITY of ALL SPEAKERS AND AMPS, for the mach 460 stereo system.

I don't mean to bother you guys, but if you read my original post I actually want to replace both of the units for the stereo and replace it with a double-DIN unit. Crutchfield.com says that these units will not fit my car (understandably) and that I might have to do some body work. The most important thing for me right now is just trying to figure out which unit to get. There is one from Pioneer and a couple of other companies. I also want to know how I may do the work to convert it from two single-DIN units to a single double-DIN. Please look at the photo in my first post and compare it to units that were stock in the coupes for my model vehicle
