Hi guys, i'm looking into buying a 99-04 style used GT. do you think i should wait till the 05 comes out to find lower prices? or do you think it won't really matter?

'99s & '00s have probably leveled off, the'01s to '04s will take a while longer.
What's your budget?

I agree with Bullitt. I think the worst is over, but they will continue to depreciate slightly until they are 10 years old. At that time the car could go slightly lower if the markets determine it is not a collectable and desirable car. The price will go up if the market decides it is collectable.

I think they'll continue their normal depreciation rate but I don't think after 10 years the market will consider them collectibles. There are a lot of them and there's nothing special about them. If you want one, just buy it and enjoy it.

I think you're going to get some good deals now but if you really want a great deal and don't mind a car that's been sitting on the lot for a while, I'd grab one over winter after the 05's hit the streets.

Difference probably won't be more than $1000-$1500 (maybe) though.

I'm planning on staying around 14000, give or take a little. I'd like to have money left over to add lots of goodies. I'm actually hoping that it might depreciate a bit more when the 05's are out. Even if its just another 1000-1500, thats a new suspension and a few cheap engine mods right there.

Rebates and heavy discounting at dealers kills resale value more then any other thing.

But what about the Fox bodies? There were a lot of those also, but after the sn95 came out their value went up after a few years.

with more and more mods coming available for the 4.6, and the market seeing the 4.6 is still here to stay, even more mods will become available and for less money. Just like people buy Fox bodies because they can mod the 5.0 for cheap, the 4.6 will be cheaper to mod soon. And with fewer and fewer clean and straight Fox bodies available, people will turn to the SN95 to build.
