96-98 midpipe vs 99-04 midpipe
#2
well ive been told that the only difference is the exhaust hangers being in a different location, but on my friends 99gt vs my 98gt, they seemed to be in the exact same location. everything else was the same, no different, but the 98 and 99 werent too different since its the transition years, 98 vs 04 might be a lot different, but not from what ive heard

You can get a o/r pipe to fit pretty easy, since its so light, even if hte hangers dont line up perfect, your catback and headers will hold it up fairly well (not that I recommend not using hangers, do your best to get them working).
If you are using a catted pipe its gonna be a bit more difficult because of the weight, you want to use hte hangers for sure.

yeah, thats how i have mine, actually. i have a 98gt and had to get a 98cobra t-45 installed a while ago, and since the transmission mounts are in different locations, i couldnt use the existing hangers on my bbk catted x, so i just use the manifolds and the catback to hold it up, and so far its been doing a pretty good job of it
