As very few of you know.....or care.. ..I've been checking out the site off and on for the last year.

Last year, my daily driver was dying and I was spending money monthly to fix it, while simutaneously saving for a down payment. I had a few car choices in mind, but by the time I got my down payment there was already a shortage of Mach1's and the waiting time for the 2005 GT was too long for my daily driver to handle. I also had some friends/family discouraging me from buying a Ford(their horror stories). So I didn't get the Stang, and chose a different path. In hind sight, I'm kind of glad I didn't get a Stang as a new car, because I think I wouldn't want to mod it.....because that's exactly how I'm treating my new car(no mods......only oil/tire changes).

Recently I just graduated college (<----I hate those things), and now that my money is in MY pocket instead of the universities. I want to reward myself with a 2nd car.

Anyways.....my question is to you 94-95 and 99-04 GT owners(no disrespect 96-98). Which model year do you like and why? I'm going by looks, power, mech., reliability, and overall fun(it won't be a daily driver).

I'm looking for a "torque-y" (is that a word?) car, which I can mod myself, and do simple things like tune-ups and oil changes(I hear this is near impossible on Japanese cars). This will be my first Stang, I'm planning on test driving a 95GT tomorrow if the rain ain't too bad. I'm just curious if I should wait a few more months and save for a 99-00 GT.

Right now it's looking like I can find some 94-95 GT's for 3-5K, or I can wait and get a 99-00GT for 8-10.5K.

I'd like as many opinions as possible!

Well . . are you wanting a 5.0 or a 4.6 and have you decided a final budget? Are you partial to a lower mileage model?

(And congratualtions on graduation!)

If I were in your situation . . . I might look for a 1995 Mustang GTS, but that's just me. Really . .after you drive a few it should clear up your decision . .

Good luck . .

The budget doesn't matter that much......not that many bills, but a definate under 11K for the car.

Just a 99-00 would delay a lot of mods, but might have a better reliability due to lower miles.

I'm leaning 94-95, but need to do some test driving......which is always fun.

My personal opinion would be a 99-00. I really like the 4.6 2 valve in those. They have a great power band and just keep pulling in the higher RPM's while the 5.0's have a bit more "grunt" at the low end and drop off toward the higher RPM's.

It really all depends on what you want since this will be your car

Due to your budget, you won't be able to afford a 99 newer, so i choose a 94-95 cobra

Since I've owned both a 94 GT 5.0 and a 99 GT 4.6, I will tell you how I feel. The 94 GT was a great car, it was my first late model and I planned on keeping it and getting into the engine as some point. Now, my divorce in mid 1999 caused me to have to trade it and a 96 Explorer in one one vehicle. I was kinda miffed at first, because the 94 GT was almost paid off, but the 4.6 with the added horsepower made me forget about my woes.
So, for everyday fun without much modding, the 99+ is the way to go. But, if you want cheap horsepower, the 94-95 5.0 is a good option. Especially if you can get a nice one pretty cheap.
The interiors are too much alike to compare and styling is clearly your decision. But they are the same in alot of ways.

I somehow figured that would be your answer.

I actually found a couple of "private sellers" selling their 99-00 GTs for 8.5-12K. I figure after a little haggling on those 12K, it could fall in the range.

As far as what I'm looking for.......torque.....pure torque, but a N/A engine.

I found an original owner 00GT for $7500(no wrecks and 81K).

I got a good deal on it.

I'm happy!!!!

It was basically......the 94-95s had a lot more wear on them. I had guys trying to sell 94-95 GTs for like 5 or 6K. The 00 GT fell in my lap....I couldn't pass it up, and it wouldn't trade it for anything.

Congrats Matt! My first mustang was a 00GT (automatic). It was a great car and had plenty of power! You'll be happy.

Nah, I was just updating the topic.

I've had the Stang since July 31st. I've already got a topic on her. Still haven't chosen a name for her though.

My Stang is Performance Red and my Acura is Artic Blue Pearl. So I usually just refer to them as "The Blue Angel" and "The little Red Devil."

Here's some old pics. Since then I've upgraded to smoked lights, and raised the height of the car. I should have some pics posted next week.

Been searching for a performance red(or black) hood scoop.

Just curious, but why did you raise the height of the car?

The thing wasn't lowered........it was slammed. I could barely get 2 fingers within the fender and the top of the wheel.

Speed bumps sucked!

To make the story more interesting, the guy who installed my springs, said that the prior springs were installed incorrectly.

Supposedly around the springs there was supposed to be 1 supporting bolt on top and 1 on bottom. The front driver side spring had 2 bolts on bottom, so the car was riding on the bolt. When he had removed it.....the bolt had been grinded in half. It was ugly(I should have taken a pic), thankfully they only installed it wrong on one wheel. Also, the rear passenger spring was pointed in the wrong direction, so that wasn't helpful either.

The other problem was the old spring was the same height as a stock spring, so it was taller than the FRPP C-Springs. However since my car sat lower, the old springs were EXTREMELY soft. I'd bottom out all the time, especially places with minor potholes.

Also, I'm thinking of getting an X-pipe, they usually hang lower than stock.......my stock H was scrapping. All I need is $400 Bassani pipe to get all dinged up just because of some crappy springs.

I'm selling my springs to a guy to use on his import, so hopefully he has better luck than I did.
