tires

What would be the best combination to use in a 98 mustang gt for tires? I want big tires in the rear and smaller in the front. This is the one that came with 245-45-17 I believe is 17*8 rims. I know that height could be a problem if I have different tires so that's why my question.

welcome to TMS! Do you plan on changing out your rims any time soon? Do you need tires right now? You can do 275-40-17 in the rear and do the 245-45-17 in the front
Do know if this link will work.

But it will show you several different combos. Then use the tire calculator at the bottom of the page to see what the different numbers will get you

Glen thanks for the reply. I do plan to keep the original rims. I like them and I want to keep it stock. Does 275-40-17 same height than 245-45-17?

Nevermind. I saw the calculator and gives me the info I need. Thanks a lot!!!

I think a 275 is going to be a little big for a 8in rim. I personally wouldnt go bigger then a 255. The 275s will buldge a whole lot on a 8in and will wear unevenly.

Glen it is very close (the eye won't see a difference). I will dig in more info to see if the 275 could be an option since 1999pony could be right on the uneven wear

Its like putting 315s on a 9in wheel. Can it be done and should it be done are two totally different answers.
