Transmission

Got a couple of questions...

Long story short car sat for a year and drove fine before it was "forgotten". It's a V6 with 113K.

Had to replace the fuel pump in it. No problem. Now the car needs to rev to about 4K before it will start moving. This will only happen if the shifter is in 1st or 2nd, not in D. Once the car starts moving it sort of leaps forward as if the the transmission just all the sudden "catches" and then the car drives normally till I come to another dead stop.

I am guessing the transmission is starting to go if a flush and filter change did nothing to help the situation.

What years are the transmissions compatible with each other if I decide to go the junkyard route? Are there other Ford models that use the same transmission?

Thanks for any help.

from a quick check, 99-00 are compatible.did not see any other models that was listed. you can try a bottle of Lucas tranny fluid. maybe able to help you until you get new tranny.

So I get the trans out of the car.

Noticed that the electrical connector for the shift 1 & 2 solenoid has trans fluid in it. Could this be enough to cause the trans not to up shift until the the engine revs high enough and then engages into 3rd?
