Today, my cd player stopped working. It is the bog standard 1 disc model in the 2000's.

I put the CD in, It comes to "01 00:00 play" but nothing happens

I have tried turning on and off, removing CD and trying a different one, I even bought a CD cleaner. Nothing I have tried works.

Please, Please (I have a long journey of Friday to Americana and the best radio stations here transmit on evens e.g 98.0, 102.0and we all know that the radio only picks up odds) Someone help me and let me know that this is a common problem and is easy to fix (please let me know how to fix it)

I'm DESPERATE!!!!!

Thanks,

James

Best advice I could give is for you to Replace it with something aftermarket, that's what I have done in the past! I'm on my third Stang and the longest I have had one last is three years.

Try pulling the battery cable. I'm not sure if it will do anything, but its worth a try.

I think you have the only two valid course's of action already presented. Pull the battery cable and leave it off 15 minutes ... If that fails, an after-market system shouldn't cost too much to replace it.

Do you mean replace the radio unit? If so, do I just leave the Cd unit in?

Thanks for the advice.

Alright then,

What is the easiest (and quickest) way of removing the CD unit? I have a company here that can repair it if I can get it out! Unfortunately, I do not have the little rods that come with them.

Thanks

James

heres a simple one....was the cd you were trying to play a burned CD??? i have problems even with my sony in my 92. some companys writable cds arent worth a poot and wont play right in my CD player. might try another cd if you havent already. if that doesnt work. you can just remove the factory radio w/ the tape player and the cd player both and they sell a plate to cover the cd plaer opening and buy an aftermarket cd player for the top opening

to remove try cutting a metal coat hanger in half bending it and inserting it into the holes. but most auto parts places have one it was like 3.99 good luck

Silly as it sounds, I do not own any burned c.d's! I like all my collection to be original don't ya know!

So that definately isn't the problem. I have a friend that might be able to fix the cd player (I would like to keep the interior original as I intend keeping the car until it gets "Classic" status)

Thanks for all your advice!

Right, Ihave finally removed the CD player and sent it to be repaired. The problem now is that I only get treble from the radio.
I think a pre-out comes from the radio, goes into the CD player and then to the amp. Is there anyway I can bridge the wires to get the signal direct from the radio to the amp?

Thanks for any help (PLEASE RESPOND!!! I cannot take a 70 mile commute without a radio :bang: :bang: :bang: )

I say just chuck the radio in the junk pile and look for a nice after market head unit that is least problematic.
