Rolling by itself, Without my foot on the gas
Hi,
2002 V6 Mustang automatic. I think I have a high idle because when I take my foot off the brake she rolls by herself. This is an automatic and when shifting into drive or reverse she jumps just a little. I wait for the idle to go down, But it takes a 5 minutes. Lol I read you cannot adjust the idle unless you have scanner or tuner. I do see a adjusting screw on the throttle body. Thanks ahead of time for any replies.
This is what I've done already:
Cleaned the IAC
Cleaned the Maf sensor
Changed plugs
Cleaned the throttle body
Changed the fuel filter
Changed all but one vacuum hose, The one from the "T" that goes into the firewall. I changed the other half to the head.
Just put in a sending unit and fuel pump
PCV and hose changed

Autos are supposed to roll forward when you let off the brake on flat ground. Same as when you get a manual just past the friction point it will roll forward without pressing the gas because the engine is spinning at idle.
Have the key off, hold trip button on instrument cluster and hold. While holding start the car and keep holding until stuff pops up on odometer and let off. You now can see digital gauges and if you press the trip button you can scroll through them. You can see rpm and at idle should be anywhere from 600-800rpms at idle

Thanks for replying. She's ok. It's showing 700 something. Just she was rolling just a little too fast and then she would shift. I understand they roll a little bit. Just this one is acting like I have my foot on the gas a tiny bit. Thank you again. Yes, I've used the Instrument cluster test before. It's more like a toy with me. If I'm waiting for someone I toy with it. HAHAHAHA
