Question Need help on CAI for the 3.8L

My daughter has a 3.8 and wants a CAI. I got a new 06, and I know you have to do retuning. How about the 3.8L what all is involved in getting this to work. Who makes what? any help will be appreciated.

No tuning is required. The SN95 engines are a lot less touchy than the 197s. It may help a little, but dont get a tune just for the CAI.

IS there one to stay away from. Most I have found run about 170.00, I did find one at mustang tuning for 70.00. Looks all the same, am I paying for a name?

The Mustang Tuning model is an off brand, so it's a lot less. It may not be as meticulously engineered as a BBK or Steeda model, but unless you're daughter is looking for every bit of power she can get, I would just get the cheaper one. Besides, a lot of the CAI appeal, especially on a V6, is the visual upgrade.

I agree, I think also the price difference is that the cheaper one, does not have a MAF sensor mount included. I assume by the photo you have to use the stock one and convert it.

On mine I just removed the MAF sensor from the stock intake and it plugged right into the new CAI. No convertions necessary for mine. It was a really easy install. The only tough part was twisting and turning the pipe to get it to fit it correctly. Good luck.

Got it installed, thanks for the help

Even without directions, I just looked at the picture and I installed it.

I had a Ford Racing sticker, so I put it on it. She is very happy with it.

I had to get a longer crankcase vent tube, so I used some old braided hose I had used on my 06 and put it on. It really helped a lot for the looks.

Looks good, and the braided hose is a nice touch too. And nice sticker too! Looks familiar...
