Lightbulb Hopping up my '04

Hello,

So, I am nearing the end of my extended warranty on my '04 vert and was hoping to get people's input on the aftermarket for the 3.8L sitting under the hood. I've heard here and there that Super 6 Motorsports is the way to go when it comes to intake, heads and other engine parts and that Steeda has the best suspension packages. Now, I'm not wanting to make a 1/4 mile car at all. I'd like to build a road car that I can enjoy on the weekends since that when I do a lot of my driving. This car has been a nice daily driver and I want to use it as a fun garage project from here on in. Any help and advice will be appreciated.

Steeda is definitely the way to go for suspension kits. They make stuff for all sorts of applications. Just make sure whatever you get from them is indeed for a road car and not a drag car.

I don't know too much about super six other than its the preferred place to go to get 3.8L parts. Good luck with your project and take plenty of pics

Yeah, I've heard that you have to be rather specific with Steeda when it comes to your build. I'll do my best to take pics when I get a digital camera

I dont know where you are located, but if you are anythere around Tennessee, I suggest you let Delk perfomance handle your dirty work.

The have made the worlds fastest V6 Mustang. I have seen this car run before, and it is a beast!

Well, I'm in central Texas near San Antonio so I think Tennessee might be a little far to go

Cool little up date: I managed to score a free GT rear bumper for this car. So when I slap the dual exhaust on it'll look right, IMHO. Quick question, what would be a good set of mufflers for this car? I've heard that Flowmaster 2 and 3 chambers are pretty much the same performance wise, that only real differance is sound. Someone threw Borla mufflers my direction as a suggestion, which I've heard and read to be good, and someone else mentioned getting Cherry Bombs, which I've not heard anything performance wise for this aside from being stupidly loud. So, which muffler is best when it comes to the 3.8? Also, what size exhaust pipe would be good for this? I have 2 1/2" pipe sitting around that I can use and just want to get the right size so that it's not too big.

2.5" pipe is what I see most of the aftermarket using when it comes to 3.8L engines, so th pipe you have laying around should be just fine.

as for mufflers, i'm not sure. you'll be gaining horses any way you go with a custom true dual setup like you're describing. go to youtube and listen to different mufflers and just get what you think sounds best

Thankyou sir. I'm thinking I may go with the FM 2 chamber, I understand it has the best exhaust note... then again the Cherry Bombs are available at my LPS.

Ive heard both flowmaster and mac set ups on the exhaust. They both sound great, but the flowmasters are the best.

Well, they might be what I go with, the Flow Masters that is. However, I do like the idea of using the Cherry Bombs to wake up the entire subdivision at 4:30 am coming in from my shift at work
