My wife's convertible took one heck of a beating last night. For about ten minutes, north Austin was hit with golf ball sized hail. My wife was about 5 minutes from our home, but she was in the hail long enough to for her car's top to tear, the headlights and grill to crack, and the car has tons of little dents all over.

Simple walkthrough of damages suggest I will need to replace the top, headlights, grill, and driver's side front and rear quarter panels. The driver's side door might be repairable. The plastic part right beneth the windshield was also cracked so that will have to be replaced.
There are also some scratches and paint chips that will have to be touched up.

Anyone know how this affects your insurance premiums?

All I can say is..that stinks man. Is your wife OK? I'm sure that had to be pretty scary to have to drive in that....I dont know about premiums...I mean, it wasnt your fault, I'd say this is one of those good times that there is a deductable...having to do it w/cash would be pretty pricey.

My wife is ok, but she did get a big scare. She thought the windshield was going to crack.

This car is a little over a year old and now it looks pretty bad. My wife's first mustang (a 2001 coupe) was smashed up pretty bad by an explorer 3 months after she bought it. She hasn't had the best luck with new cars.

The news said State Farm had over 1600 hail related claims that day
