what kind of things do you have that would affect your mileage (transmission, mods, overall mileage, etc.)

I have an '03 automatic and I get really close to 30mpg on the interstate running 74 mph with the cruise on. No mods whatsoever. I have gotton 407 miles on 1 tank once, but that was really stretching out the 'low fuel' indicator light. I always drive witht the cruise on. every day driving, I expect to get around 330+mi. to each tank. which is around 25mpg I think. I just turned over 47,000, and It still runs like new.

'99 auto v6 with 107K on the clock. My last tank I got 23-and-some-change mpg. Mixed city/highway commuting. That's also driving very consciously to get better mileage. I.E., sedate acceleration, coasting toward red lights. The only mod I have is a K&N filter in the stock air box. I run with Bridgestone Potenza G009 tires. Was I ever glad to get rid of those terrible stock Eagle GA's!

2002 auto v6 with 44k miles im only getting like 18mpg city and around 24 or 25 on the highway, KN FIPK, Mac Dual exhaust, 4.10 rear gears and tloc on the way, a diablochip. rollin on some hankook all seasons right now until i get wheels

2000 5-speed with 28,000 miles.
In the city less than 20 mph. In order to keep that I change air filter every 3,000 miles.

2000, get about 22mpg (US gallons). OUCH!! (normal cars here get 38!!)

8,000 miles on an AUTO 3.9. No engine mods.

Getting around 26 mpg on highway, 72 mph with cruise on. My mixed milage is 23 or 24 mpg at best because I think city driving is around 22 mpg.

15.9 gallon tank the most miles I ever had was around 405 in mixed driving.

Milage has gone up ALOT since it was new. My first tank of gas lasted 150-200 miles (no joke). No doubt if I had a 5 spd the milage would be better but I could not find one and I don't have a prosthetic leg that I can use to depress the lame clutch they put in these cars.

Overall, I think that kind of milage is awesome for a car with this much torque. No, not the milage of Japanese 6 bangers, but they have no low end and have to be revved all the time which is annoying. Plus, I was averaging 28 mpg with my 4 banger 5spd Focus before this car, and 25 mpg with my 4 banger Auto Accord before that so I am pretty happy.

Yes, the car handles better without the Eagles, but your ride is better and the Potenzas are sapping about 2-3 mpg because they are stickier tires. But you know what: when my Eagles wear down in 40,000 miles I am going to do the same thing.

A 2004 (see mods list below) that I drive about 400 miles a week. 60% with cruise set @ 75 MPH, 10-20% is highway with cruise off 60-80 MPH, balance is stop & go. Stop & go driving is very spirited off the line but once I get to cruising speed I'm usually in 4th @ 30-40 MPH or 5th/OD above 40. With all this, I average 26-28 MPG.

Had a '98 that I put 131k miles on before (set up pretty much the same, but starting out with 43 less HP) and got around the same 26-28 MPG. The added base HP of the 2004 makes a very noticeable performance difference, so I was quite surprised to see these two cars get similar mileage. Before the '98 I had a '94 that I drove for 89k miles. It was also a 5-Speed car but had NO mods on it and got 27-29 MPG.

2004 V6 5-Speed. In the city, I get high 18's - low 19's. If I do any freeway driving at all where I can use 5th gear, it jumps to over 20, sometimes low 21's. Only have 1800 miles on it, and haven't had it on any long trips yet.

I get roughly 19-21MPG.

Gas Light will come on roughly about 260, I take it to about 275. (BTW- does anyone really know how many more miles we can get on the indicator? Does it start to make a noise or anything once it is REAL close?)

I do freeway mostly, but all at rush hour. So no gains for me.

Hey Tom: do not fret. The mileage will go up at around 5000 miles.

As for the gas light. No-it doesn't make any noise. When the light comes on that means 2 gallons in the tank usually. You need to know how much mpg you are getting to stretch it though.

I like the Low-Fuel light, and have basically kept track of what mile it comes on each week for the past year, since my work week driving is pretty much allways the same. The most miles I've gone before it came on was 365.8. A few times I've filled up within a few miles of it coming on I've put in 13-13.5 gallons which would support the TWO GALLONS remaining therory.

When the LF light comes on, I usually just put 5-10 gallons in to get me through the weekend and then fill up on my way to work at the begining of the week, so I've never really tested how far I can go after the LF light !!

LF light comes on when needle is more or less completly in the red box and the furthest I've gone before adding gas is with the needle completly past the red box (maybe 20-30 miles past LF light).

Anyone else keep track of when the light comes on ??
Anyone really test how many miles after it comes on ??

I have a '99 pony with 183K on the clock, and I am still running at around 26 mpg at an average speed of about 72mph, and still running strong!

The Potenza's might we dragging down my fuel economy a bit, but I doubt it's to the tune of 2-3 MPG. Regardless, it's great to have traction, especially in the wet. The only complaint I've heard about the G009s is that they have weak sidewalls, which makes for bad cornering. I've never encountered this personally.

The Eagle GAs might as well be made out of teflon when it gets the least bit damp. Very little traction. These tires are seriously bad in the rain. Not all Eagles, mind you, but the GAs are horrible! I'd recommend switching sooner rather than later. It might save your life or keep your pony from getting bent...

2004 V-6 Automatic, no mods whatsoever. I've always kept the mileage of my vehicles and my 'Stang is averaging 25.1 mpg since purchasing it in September 2004. It currently has about 6,600 miles on the odometer. I find it's a perfect mix of performance and economy.
