Why no factory dual options?
Hello all,
This is my first post to this forum, although I have frequented this website often since purchasing my first Mustang, a 2004 coupe. I noticed that the exhaust note is much improved over earlier V-6 Mustangs. I notice many of the posts here inquire about adding duals which leads me to question: why has Ford never offered duals as an option or standard on a non-GT model?
I read somewhere if duals are added, there is the loss of some torque, is this true? True duals would look much better and I would think they'd provide better flow. If Ford used the same duals as on the GT, I also would guess that their costs would be lower, i.e. use of the same parts, valance, etc.
I've seen duals (probably not true duals) on other V-6 cars and have always wondered why Ford has never gone this route before. Any ideas?
Also, does anyone have a cutaway photo of the 3.8 engine used in the 95-'04 cars? All I can find is the image of the 2005's V-6.
Thanks!

no idea why ford hasnt done duals on the v6 model but as for doing duals on a v6 you will lose some torque down low but you will gain some up high. so really your not losing anything its losing down low gaining up high
Most dual exhaust systems for the V6 use a Y-pipe. Check out this site for some great 3.8 add ons
I suggest a custom tuned SCT chip for your first add-on. It will add a decent amount of hp for about $300.

I would think one reason would be that its one more small little thing to differentiate the V8 from the V6. Gotta make the car different enough so those who buy the V8 know that others will recognize it as a V8.
