So I'm going through a divorce (finally). It started a year ago and its starting to finally go through the paper cycle.

My dad offered me his 1998 Camry if I could get out from under my Mustang payments of $450 a month. The Camry's original engine went dead and this new one has about 1000 miles on it now.

So any takers? Or better yet, any ideas on how to get out of this? I have it until August 2008.

I'm very sorry to hear about your divorce. About the car, I hate to tell you, but I think you'd be lucky to get $13K for your car. I've seen local dealers pushing 04 v6 models for $14K.

Yeah, brand new 2004s are going for cheaper and a 2005 model is just $1400 more.

Yeah, not only that, but for another grand you could get a brand new 05 with no miles on it (an no ding in the door).

Sometimes, it is better to sell for a loss and get out of the monthly payments (and a potential repo). I am sure that is not what you want to hear though.

That is just way too much for almost 3 year old Mustang V6.

Sorry to hear about your situation. About 6 months ago I let go of my 01 GT, mint condition, 36000 miles for 12K. I started at 17, tried for 6 months incrementally dropping the price. No one was even interested until I hit 13K. Got desparate, and sold it to a dealer for 12.

Good luck!

Yeah thats what I hear. haha

I just figured I'd ask my fellow Mustang groupies.

It was just a pipedream to get out from under this Stang, pay off that Camry real quick to my dad and then possibly trade in for another Stang in late 2006-7.

Have to agree with everyone else here. This past may I bought myself a 2002 v6 auto with leather, 6cd, and mach 500 with 19K miles on it for 13000. not going to have much luck that high.

I bought my beautifully-taken-care-of 2000 v-6 for $9,950 including tax, licensing, etc (which says a lot for california!), and the car had only 40,000 miles on it. I assume there are mustangs for even cheaper than that now. Sorry, it's just too high.

When?

So, I should ask at least $9,000 for my Mustang? Under 26,000 miles.

Yeah I know the price is high as heck. I can't even get the thing refinanced now because my wife has got us so screwed. This is just on top of the 2002 Escape that is in the same situation as the Mustang.

Just plain screwed.

Red Star- I bought it just this past March. Sticker price was 11,000... they were asking 10,000 in the paper; I offered 8,500 and they settled at 8,950 before tax/etc.

It came with leather interior too (forgot to mention that!). Very well taken care of.
I posted some pictures here:

Your car looks great.

My doesn't have leather nor those exaust pipes ... but it does have bra and silver single racing stripe. And only 25,700 miles.

Yeah I'm trying to sell my 95 v6 and havent been getting too much goodluck so far. I put it in the local papers and all asking 3,500. I will take 3k with no problem though. but even with that low of a price, i havent been having too many hits.
