Water in Driver Side Foot Well

I habe a 1989 5.0 LX Sport Convertible. Out of the blue, I started finding water in the driver side foot well after a rain storm.....when I say water I mean a gallon plus as if everything that came in to the engine cowl went righ to the interior. I have been to the body shop three times and they have cleaned the cowl drain twice and adjusted the weather stripping, buit to no avail. I (and the Body Shop) have done some controlled testing with covering the cowl and weatherstriping during rain storms and pouring water into the cowl and on the door with a hose......and there is no leak. But, leave the car in the rain and the leaking occurs.

Has anyone dealt with this same issue?

My 2011 ford edge was leaking water into drivers side footwell through a leak in the top of windshield. A little silicone and no more leak, Just a thought
