TDC / #1 Plug

I did a conversion of a 88 Mustang GT from EFI to carb. When I pulled the distributor, I marked TDC and the position of the rotor at about the 11 o'clock position. I bought a new distributor for a 78 Mustang and the number one inscribed on the cap is at about 1 o'clock. And there is no terminal directly above my 11 o'clock mark. I thought all Mustang #1 terminals were generally in the same location, and how should I compensate for that?
