ok i'm not exactly sure of what can be done so i want you to tell me if any of this cannot be done.
i want to buy a carbureted turn key engine
i want to pull the carburetor off and then throw and edelbrock EFI intake on, buy new fuel rail/injectors/pump
what kind of problem will i have to deal with if i do this?
by the way, i am starting with an EFI 5.0 engine in the car at the time i pull it to put the carbed engine in, i dont want carbed so i'm lloking for a way to turn a cheaper engine into its fuel injected version so i dont have to pay $2000 extra to get it with an intake i dont want anyway

If the computer in the car is already from an EFI 5.0 I think you're good to go. I'm not aware of anything else that needs to be changed other than the fuel system and intake which you already mentioned. I'm not sure if the wiring harness matters or not... Don't forget the air intake tube and since your avatar says '87 GT I guess you don't need to worry about a mass air meter...
Again i'm not positive if thats all you need so lets wait for some more replies!

Let me see if I understand, you have a carb'd engine you can purchase to replace the current engine in your '87 GT? Unless you are getting a killer deal on the carb'd engine, consider buying a long block and simply swap the EFI set-up from the existing '87 engine. Let me know if I missed something and I'll try to provide some add'l details.

Just a ? but why not just build your motor? You keep saying turn key but your going to have to swap all of your efi stuff over to it so its not exactly turn key . Then it kinda comes down to what all is done to that motor also . If it has been built with good heads and stuff then your looking at your intake and stuff starving the motor for more airflow. First thing you need to do is find out what is done to the motor. Then if it has heads or is built then you will need to look at changing the intake and also swap over to mass air and get rid of the speed density.
