DSS shortblocks start at $1500 for the base bullet 306 block.

Thats not bad, how much is a 331?
Paul, The Procharger's oil drains from a plug in the bottom just like a car.

That's fine but what does it hold? 1 quart? 1/2 quart? less? How long before the oil contained there under heat and use loses its viscosity? Any any way to tell if it is low or not? Point being I'll take a fresh oil supply any day over that.....just like a turbocharger....constant fresh oil is a good thing....not a bad thing

I know Paxton now has a kit for fresh oil feed and I imagine there is something similar available for a procharger as well...and if not, there should be.

Procharger i self contained and only self contained. The oil is 5k miles oil i believe, and he changes it every 3 to be safe, u dont need to check oil as it would use oil, but i am pretty sure it has a small dipstick. i will check on how much it takes.

If you do come back with a blower idea, here is what Trixter's Racing told me

2-core- 3658
3-core (recommended) +300

Will NOT BE UNDERSOLD, shop here last.

I strongly recommend the Procharger setup. It is intercooled and can safely run 9-11 psi on stock engine yielding up to 65% hp gain. The oil change isn't bad at all. The oil is a special ati blend not same as engine oil. I run ATI on my f 150 5.4 4x4. I plow with it,participate in truck pulls and am going drag racing within next couple weeks to land some times.

my friend had a budget and built up his top end on his 92 LX. He used TFS-R heads ported to heck and back (could drop a silver dollar in the intake side). O-ringed the heads, and a cobra intake that was port matched. He matched it up with a E-cam for emmisions, and bumped up the fuel system, ignition system and cooling system, including a high flow water pump. I witnessed him slaughter a 1996 Vette (slushbox) from a stop when the vette had a 25 mph plus roll. He also had equal length headers, and full 2.5 inch dual exhaust. I think he was running a 3.42 or whatever the 3.4... something number was, so he could have power all the way up to over 120 mph. I also heard a story about him staying 1 car behind a Viper GTS with exhaust from 0 to 80 mph on a toll road.

Just try to match everything really well. That is the whole key.

The DSS short block could be a good idea, and you may be able to talk them into a long block with the heads and intake you want. If you find it cheaper let them know, chances are they pay the same price as everyone else, and can come down, plus if you are already buying a short block, they may be willing to come down anyway.

ps, I would suggest a short block with Forged pistons and rods if you want to put on a power adder later, it will handle it much better.

if you want to mix and match, shop around, places like www.enginekits.com have cheap parts, as do PAW or Performance Automotive Warehouse.

EngineKits.com has a 347 Stroker kit for 500 bucks, if you have a contact at a machine shop this could end up being a really good buy.
