So i need to replace the starter on my stang and i can only get to the bottom bolt but after that I cant get to the top bolt or pull the starter out. How am I going to get it out of the engine?

My guess is get a socket and extension just long enough so you can reach the bolt from the end of the starter.

I know that is not the same starter you have but you have the same situation

Like Glenn stated getting at the top bolt is almost like the 5.0. starter, extions, swivels and a boat load of patients. i have never changed one but I do know the other problem you face is the horrible k-member on the V6 and if I remember some past talk the starter is up tight against the pan and will not fit by the k-member. The only solution is going to be either or a combo off jacking the motor up slightly so you angle the motor to one side or taking both off and jacking it straight up pullong the mounts out so you wiggle the motor around. I hoping you don't have to mess with the K-member but I'm thinking jacking teh motor is in order.

best of luck.

you will have to pull the engine and trans at the same time unless you take the starter off first
