Door Lock Actuators.

Does anyone know if there was/is a recall for the door lock actuators for a '93 GT?

I am just asking because everyone says this is a common problem in Foxes, and I was just wondering if Ford took any action.

not as far as I know... personally, I have owned three foxes and have had the same problem with all three...I guess its just something you have to deal with. Ford's are notorious for electrical problems...

NO, no recall there....

and it's not an 'electrical problem" either.....the problem is that the rubber boot that is designed to keep moisture out of the actuator deteriorates and allows moisture to run down the shaft into the actuator which is what causes the failure....corrosion...not electrical.

Thanks for the info guys! I have to replace these now because now that it is cold I can not even get into my car with the key, and I can't even get out sometimes... I have to use the hatch its ridiculous lol.

Have a Happy New Year!

By the way, how come you cant just pull on the inner handle to get out? is that broken too?

I don't think its broken but the lock actuators are so messed up that I can not move the lock pin on the door up unless I use a key. Some days I can open my doors from the inside, if it is not below freezing usually.

That is familiar and when it is below freezing the moisture on the actuator rod that has seeped into the actuator gets frozen and there is NO WAY you will get into the car until it thaws out.(unless you have a hatch).

I have the same problem with the driver door. It still works, very stiff. Power lock will not work at all. It's on my "to do" list.
