I have to put cats on to pass inspection. I've searched every thread and all talk about removing them. I just need to know what is the hose is made of that comes out of diverter valve that goes to the catalytic "crossover tube" to pump air into the cats? Is it metal, is it some type of high heat hose? Can I use braided steel line? It will be running very close to the long tube headers that are on the car. I don't want anything melting under there. Thanks.

 

from the factory it was metal, they are hard to find and cost a alot of $$ . Most just use rubber hose and don't have any problems, you can go to napa or any part store and have them cut you some. you can heat wrap the area going by the headers.

I cut my metal hose at one time for removal of the tranny and used a section of silicon hose to patch it back together. I drove it like that for years and it never failed.

 

High heat rubber hose will work fine.
