Ashtray Lid Problems?

My 93 ashtray lid is just flapping around. DO you think I need just the spring or all these parts. I can't imagine just the door has all these parts. Anyone know?

Your best bet is to take a look. I was able to repair mine on my 90 lx with out any thing. The spring had just popped off.

Cool

Your right, its just the lid, console and spring. The easiest way to see how the spring goes is to take off the console and examine it that way to see. It's very corny how ford engineered it, but it does work when the spring is inserted properly. It's hard to explain how it goes, but just try it a couple of different positions and you will figure it out I am sure.

LOL...The spring popped off of my ashtray probably a month or so after I owned the car. What a well build piece of junk that is. I just jut out some adheasive type material that's consistantly reusable to keep the lid shut on the ash tray. But I have seen replacement springs for the tray on the internet, just look around for it. Of course a quick stop to a local junk yard could be useful.
