No it does not. It has stamped steel rockers. I recently purchased a 1998 Explorer engine and tore it apart. I am just using the short block. Using accessory drive from my 5.0. Are you doing a V8 conversion or just swapping out the engine?

Like stated previously, the '97 engine should have stamped steel rocker arms, not roller (bearings) rocker arms unless the Explorer engine was previously modified. Swap what performance parts you can from your old engine onto the newer one. May need to look into a set of shorty headers that will work with GT-40P heads in a Mustang application.

Like stated and now stated again the heads do not have roller rockers. The '89 mark cam can be used it is the same cam has the mustang. A nice upgrade that really makes a motor is a trick flow stage 1 cam IMHO. I would also get the ceramic coated Ford racing "P" headers, best bang for the buck shorty header and it is a well made header.

Swap everything from your current 5.0 to the long block of the Explorer and put it in. Like skunk21 said, get a set of headers that are made for the GT40P heads and enjoy!
