Worth the Work?
I wouldn't touch it. So much rust. For every bad spot you see, there are probably 5 you can't see. I'd bet you'd replace 95% of that thing when it's all said and done. Honestly an I6 coupe probably isn't worth it in the long run. I'd run and hide from it to be honest
that bad on the outside, dollars to donuts, the floor/frame/torqueboxes/wheelhouses/aprons/shocktowers/inner cowl, are likely even worse.
I really enjoy saving things 'from the brink' but think there comes a point just like eventually else, including ourselves, it might be best to let it die... nothing lasts forever, no matter what- one that rough to try to resurrect would be a huge undertaking... the only way I'd consider that car would be if it had a substantial sentimental value... I redid a 4 door LTD for a neighbor/friend, that otherwise I wouldnt have even thought about otherwise, no regrets, but car-wise, it wasnt a smart thing to do... labors of love, well no limits exist...
heres a link to our old gal, its still here, but to me it will always be my buddy Ben's car- look at pics of the rot under what from the outside looked like a very decent car- except for quarters it was original paint when we got it, Ive since repainted one quarter and the roof... the underside was basically iron ore...

Having restored an I6...
Totally not worth it in that condition. You'd be better off stripping it and hoping the parts would sell on ebay or something.
It's a shame, but that's the reality. She's too far gone.

Tim, I just read your story on the Galaxie for the first time. That exact year, model and color was my first car. The only difference is mine had the 352 CID engine under the hood.
Those Galaxies are big beasts. You can put a couple of third-world countries in the trunk.
Sold that one and got a '68 Falcon. That was a funky car. Originally a 200CID-6 with 3-on-the-tree, someone cut a hole in the floor and installed a Hurst shifter - in a bench seat, straight 6-cylinder car. You couldn't get into third if the seat wasn't at least part-way back. My dad and I built an enclosure around the shifter to close it up; there was nothing between you and the road but carpet!
Then, in October '76 I was rear-ended in the Falcon - by a blue and white '72 Mustang Mach 1. That led to buying the '69 Mustang. Thus began a lifetime of Mustangs!
