I ordered new in 78 a red Mach 1 with t-tops and 302 V8 4 speed. Had the white interior. Never could find another one since. It now looks like that was a combo. Because of the t- tops you had to wait extra time for the build. I think it was three months. Kept it for about 6 months and sold it. Nothing wrong with it I just went for a bigger car. Nice car.

The thing with owning an older vehicle is that it is an "Each to their own" situation. If you like your II, who has any right to dig you? I know people that absolutely adore their 80's T'birds. I personally don't, but it is their choice.

You go on enjoying your II

Hey I was a loyal Ford guy, owned a 78 II and an 81 Thunderbird! I enjoyed them both. Also had a 82 Mark VI. Wow!

Mustang II was most important Mustang of them all. If it wasn't for Mustang II, Mustang would end up like Chevelle, GTO, and Charger.

By the way, 79-82 was just as bad. Even worse (1981 4.2L V8 had only 120 hp). But I don't see anyone complaining about early Fox.

Thanks.
Now I have visions of hatchback Fairmonts er, Mustangs driving around.
My first car was a 302 II coupe. Very nice sleeper car that smoked it's share of Camaros and Firebirds.

What praytell was wrong with the 82. I don't have any problems with my 82 Capri 5.0. Could be faster but heck it was far better than that boat anchor 255.

1982 5.0 = 157 hp
1976 5.0 = 140 hp

So advantage of +17 hp. Not much.

1988 2.3L had 88 hp. Same as Mustang II 4-cyl.

Point is, early fox-body was just as bad as II. But noone is complaning about early fox-body. Just II.

Mustang II Cobras have been all over eBay the last month. There was a nice white one in Canada but I don't remember where. I'll try to find it and edit this post.
