It's supposed to get very cold where I live on Wed. Good news for me, Bobby plans to move the 65 inside! I have the oil, filter, & that Crower Zinc stuff ready for him. I hope he then really makes some headway with it.

I set the oil in the trunk on its spare tire. I'm pretty sure it is the original one! It looks like an older tire. Need to get pics of that. See ya!!

I know I getting ahead of myself, but is the modern gas OK in it? I happened to record a 2 Guys Garage. One of the commercials is over new gas in an older car. That's all I remember. Thanks!!

Yes, but you probably want to keep to Super unleaded. Cheap gas isn't good for these cars.......

My 67 loves cheap gas. It is faster with it than premium due to me tuning it for 87. Premium is too expensive, but once I start putting performance stuff on it I will retune for 93.

Well, I didn't know that they could run on regular unleaded. Gas prices are starting to go up.....

I need some help from y'all normal working brained guys! In my phone, I put the VIN decoded stuff into a file. In it, I have:
289 2V 200 HP 2 Barrel.

Did I make that 2 Barrel stuff up? I'm looking back on what I typed. I don't see anything about the carb! Today, Bobby started working on it. He took the carb off 1st thing so he can put that rebuild thing on it. I asked him if it was a 2 Barrel. He said it is a 4 Barrel. In my phone I put 2 Barrel. Did I make that part up? I'm thinking I did.

It looks very good to me on the rack, car's underbelly. No rust @ all, I think. I was unsure about it's exhaust. It had true duels. I thought it might meet into a single right after the motor. I happened to drive by & see it today. I'll take my camera tomorrow.

He said there was about 1" of old gas in the tank. He said it turned green. I thought that might be a saying, nope, green in color. It looked good to me. He said the stuff was normal problems, nothing major yet.

Yeah according to the car's VIN it probably came from the factory with a 2 barrel carb just like mine did. However somebody might have changed to an after market 4 barrel carb since they make a lot more power. That was one of the first things I changed on mine.

I think these cars can run on regular unleaded if the carb is tuned that way. But you might have to run yours on super unleaded if it isn't tuned for regular unleaded. Maybe you can ask your mechanic on that one?

I run mine on 87. Then one month I decided to try out 89 and 93. It completely hated 89 for some reason, and 93 idled better but was slower than when it is on 87. But like I said in an earlier post my carb was tuned using 87 gas so it will run differently on other octanes.

In the 1 1/2 hours I was there, maybe 5 guys stopped in. I think there was maybe 2 guys when I asked about the gas. Bobby, my mechanic, said it would work on 87. I think both guys said that was right. I just wanted to triple check though y'all.

Tomorrow I'm going to go ask Louie if he swapped out the carbs. Thanks a lot!!!

The 4bbl makes a little more HP and gets better gas mileage if you don't step on it.
The intake manifold should have been changed also.
This is a very common mod.
.
P.S. If you want to go back to original I have a spare 2bbl that needs a rebuild.
You can have it for shipping cost.

I want to go back as close to original as I can. That's mainly the look of it. Really don't care as far as the motor. I will go see if that is the carb that came on it. Because it was the C code 289, I prob just guessed the 2 Barrel. It just hit me I might have seen that in the '65 Timeline section, nope!! Thanks again!

I went to see the car 1st today. Bobby told me that the 4 Barrel carb had FoMoCo on it. It was a ford part. I then went to see the guy that bought this car. He said it came with the 4 Barrel. Only thing he added was a smog pump. Bought it in TX, then moved to CA. It had to have a smog pump. Other than that part, stock.

Here's what I ordered for it today:
Edelbrock Victor Series racing street fuel pump for Ford 289-351W
Fuel tank sending unit fits 1965-1968 models
From Year One

I looked @ Summit, too.

All C codes came stock with the 2bbl (or as they said back then 2V for 2 venturi).

Yes, that's curious. Perhaps it was changed at the Dealership after delivery? Anyways, that's cool that you have a 4 bbl carb.

Where's the pics?

I got around kinda slow today. By time I got to it, it was already off the lift. When these parts come in, I will for sure get pics.

Not sure about the carb. I just know it came with it new. I asked Bobby if he could tell if it was like an aftermarket part. That's when he told me the FoMoCo stuff.

This car was specially built for the lot owner's wife. Louie came in with the $2800 cash, so he got it. I heard the center console it has was an option. I reckon this car was decked out for her? Again, just guessing.

Tomorrow I will pay for its new plugs, wires, points, just the stuff to give it a nice tune-up. Bobby is working on my 95 right now, shocks/struts. He hopes to get the 65 hopefully running pretty soon. Can't wait!!
