That's a good question. You're supposed to use one that has zinc addiative in it. That's something that they stopped adding to modern oils.

I think there's a diesel oil called Rotella that has the addiative already added to it. The addiative prevents wear on the engine.

Other guys in this thread were saying Redline oil.

Thanks!! I'm not really smart enough to understand that, sorry. All I got from it is it needs zinc. Falchion, tell me what you put in yours, please. I need to know a specific brand to buy. Thanks so much!

rotella T is what my uncle uses in his dump truck, and I believe in his '56 Chevy.

Thanks. I'm thinking I can use the Max Life, but with that additive stuff? Added that stuff to my list.

I just use modern oil. Have for the past 2 years and have not noticed a difference. It currently has Quaker State 10W30, but I next oil change I am going to Mobil 1 Clean 5000 10W30.

That looks pretty good Eli! A lot better then sitting in a garage!

I had to send my 65 off to the Mechanic yesterday. I was out driving around on Sunday, and the car sounded all of a sudden like it was running on only 7 cylinders. I barely made it back to my house!

My Mechanic just called and said that I have a broken rocker. That doesn't sound like it's should be too expensive of a fix. And the Trans is leaking pretty bad. It's always something with these cars!

It will look better bit by bit.

I might need a new (overhauled) Trans in mine. Errr! More money!

That blows!! Hope it is an easy fix. He was working on my 95, so he couldn't get to the 65. Having news Overlays put on my gauges. Nothing major.

Didn't you just get that engine refreshed? Are the heads part of all that? I don't know

Yes, I took it back to the shop that overhauled my engine. It looks like it had a broken rocker arm resulting from a flaw in the casting. No charge for that, but my trans started leaking all over the place and probably needs to be overhauled. I was kind of expecting that, but it's MORE MONEY!

Here why my 95 was in the shop. I had these added. I had the reverse glows & liked them just fine. When I bought these 94-95 Cobra clusters, there was 1 tiny spot that was discolored. Stuck out the size of a quarter, to me!! I wanted these for a while. It's dang near 1 of my last mods on the Vert.

& I bought the 65 a new battery today!! He hopes to start on it tomorrow!!!!

Bobby, my mechanic, put gas into the carburetor is all. He then tried to see if it would then start. It would turn the motor over & act like it wanted to start. He says the gas line, throttle something, is locked up. He says he will now tear apart the carb. He says him & his brother will rebuild it. His brother is a real mechanic. Bobby mostly does exhaust. It sounded promising to me. Again, I don't really know anything! Bobby said it is not as bad as it could have been. See ya!!
