I'm having a problem installing my transmission cooler lines. The rear one goes in fine, but the front appears to be missing something. In the rear, the line threads into an adapter that threads into the tranny case, but in the front, its just a hole in the case that is threaded. Am I missing the adapter piece? If so, I have had no luck finding this piece. Does anyone know where to get one. It is an early style C4.

Yes, you're missing a piece. I don't know of an online resource for it either. You might check with a local transmission shop - that's where I found them when I needed one.

You can order 2 stainless steel lines from National Parts Depot. They run around $70.

Their site is

http://www.nationalpartsdepot.com/

They are my favorite place to buy mustang parts.

I'll check at home if I still have one. May have gone in the trash... but there is a chance.

this is prob a $5 NAPA part, when all is said and done. Don't be too hasty to order from a catalog if you don't have to.....

The original fittings use an o-ring, the front adapter is a 90 degree fitting and has a jam nut. The nut allows you to position the fitting at the correct angle for the line without fear of it being too loose or too tight. I have a couple of close up photos of mine assembled, let me know if you want to see them. Jeff

Yes, pictures would help. On mine, the rear fitting is the 90 degree elbow. I think I accidentally trashed the front fitting when I took the original line off. When I was taking the line off, it was jammed so the fitting unscrewed and twisted the line and it broke, but it came out. I think I forgot to get the fitting off and threw it away with the rest of the line.

The front adapter is just a brass fitting you can buy at Pep Boys etc. the rear 90 degree elbow is the tough one, but you still have it.
