Thermostst STILL won't seal...

Ok , I'm still having issues getting the thermostat housing to seal. My last attempt, probably my 8th, got it down to a very slow drip (maybe one drip every 30 to 60 seconds. New housing and level surface on the intake.

Could it be because it is too cold in my garage for the sealant to cure or gasket to seal? I've tried with and without sealant and gasket sealant only without a gasket.

*if* its like the manifold on our 1965 galaxie (thermostat points straight forward/angled housing points up for the hose) ours has had a seep since 2002 when my neighbor gave me the car... I replaced the housing twice, last time with a NOS iron one, as the chrome one I bought from summit corroded completely thru and blew a dime sized hole out.

the iron one still seeped, pulled it back off and found the very bottom of the manifold has a crack in it- might be a semi- common issue, who knows... I cleaned inside the manifold best I could, and put some POR15 paint over the crack on the inside, so far it hasnt leaked yet, but know it will eventually. biggest worry would be if the crack propogates rearward it could leak into the oil instead of just puddling atop the timing cover. I have a edelbrock manifold I could throw on it, but its so original, hate to swap anything...

pics of the galaxie here, sure theres a pic of the manifold in there somewhere if you want to see if its similar:

I dont know what engine you have. But my car leaked until I put the super cheap water neck on it. Those chrome looking jobs just don't fit right for some reason. Soon as we put the old one back on it stopped leaking.
