Hey George, thanks for sharing with me about the 67. The guy is asking $7K which considering everything that will probably need replacing, will end up costing a lot more in the long run.

Thanks for the advice
Rob

For anyone that is seasoned, there is success, gratification, and money to be made
I think that's the whole point of the original poster asking questions.

There's several ways to get seasoned:
Ask, listen, and learn is one of them.
Ignoring advice you asked for is another. :bang:
And, for those of us (you, I & some of the others) who have been in the hobby since before there was "an internet", there's the school of hard knocks.

The fact that he's willing to ask the questions is reason enough for me to spend my time typing an answer to that question. Hopefully he'll ask LOTS more. The guys who don't bother asking their first questions until AFTER a purchase are the ones to worry about!

Nothing wrong with stating the opposite side - it's just a fine tightrope between reality and negativity.

Jay: your contribution to the topic is minimal. That will give you an idea on what category you fall on. I can always PM you if you can't figure it out. <wink, wink>
 Ah, it's good to be "new" ... you might wanna ease up a bit. Perhaps stick to the forums you have a current interest in. The classic market has made the biggest change in the last 3 years that it has EVER encountered.

BTW my minimal contribution here was the suggestion of 2 online sources local to CT (where both I and the poster live) that can be employed to find some cars he (or even I, if he needs that assistance) can go and view in person ... as opposed to the onine shopping. Actions you see... no need for BS PM crappola ... you're weak and I don't need a whipping boy this early eace:

I like your interest. I am excited already. Before we go any further you need to be tested.
And I get to be on top.

Hey Jay, thanks so much for those site links. I had used bargainnews.com to get my previous car (a diesel benz) but the other ones were really helpful as well.

Everyone's help has been great, ive visited a few of the cars advertised in CT area and taken down lots of notes on models/engines/interior and exterior condition as well as anything i can think to ask the owners to see if they know what they are talking about etc.

From what I have seen on ebay and the message board it doesnt seem to be the best time to hunt for the 'right' classic so im taking my time just checking up on every car i would potentially buy.

Ill keep in touch, thanks again!

That's the right approach! Take your time and shop around. The more you look, the more you learn. Fall & winter are usually when I've been able to score the best deals.

Good Luck!
