Headlights turn of and on????

Headlights turn of and on????

I have a 1965 mustang coupe and my headlights go out after a minute being on and when they go off it make a little ticking noise. Not sure what is causing this but don't wanna drive it in the night because I don't know when they'll start goin off and on. Need advice on what to do thanks

Sounds like it could be a relay failing. Check the relay in place for the headlights, and replace if need be.

I was thinking relay or even a loose connection tripping a relay or something.

Going to try checking connections since they're the original wires already had to replace engine wire harnesses. I've read about it being the switch is there any way to check if it that?

You can use a digital multimeter to test the switch. I'm not sure how you would check a relay, I think you'd have to give it power from somewhere to thoroughly test it.

Where would I find the relay?

I really have no idea, I know next to nothing about first gen mustangs. If no one else chimes in, you can follow the headlight wires back to it.

There is a circuit breaker built into the switch. After 50 years, it is weak and can't carry a load. You need a new switch.
