Headlights cutting out

Here is the problem: when running the headlights, they eventually will cut off unexplainably. The usually will come back on if I "double tap" the high beam switch. Does anyone think that the high beam switch could be the problem? If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know. Thanks!

many, many years ago, mine did the same thing- wasnt the switch, but the plug...spade connectors just needed cleaned- where its mounted if the carpet gets damp the plugs corrode enough to make them get flaky. that was 29 years ago though- would have to guess you might need a new switch too
