Can the Cover be fixed?
So, after installing an electric fuel pump my father and I were on the last step, which was putting on a block off plate on the fuel pump hole. The bolts that came with the plate were too long and broke the ear off the right side of the mechanical fuel pump holes. So. my question is. Has anyone had this issue before and is there a way to rig it that wont ruin the engine. This is so I can at least drive it long enough to adjust my new steering box/fuel system. I know I have to replace the timing cover but that is going to turn into a all winter project.
Thanks

**All that dirt and fudge on the engine was from the stupid mechanical pump leaking, and also a bad power steering seal

I was thinking Black RTV all over. I thought JB weld but I know that would pop and crack as soon as heat hit it. My only worry is something falling into the timing cover, getting chewed up, and blocking all of the oil ports.

i broke a chain on my quadracer years ago, it wrapped up and busted the back of the crankcase out... cleaned with brakleen, JBweld let sit 2 days to fully cure, rode it many years, never leaked...and the tranny sump was part of the damage.
I wouldnt worry about it 'falling in', as you can bolt/glue the blockoff to it to retain it AND hold the alignment till the epoxy sets up - just be sure to use shorter bolts
