C4 problems, no Drive

I just finished my engine build, got everything working and running good, then I back her out of the garage and poof, no drive. The transmission has park, reverse, neutral, but no D-2-1.

The linkage moves, and I adjusted it per the service manual, but it's like it never comes out of neutral. Is there anything I can check before yanking the trans?

This happens to me on occasion....usually after a long sit in the garage. But all I do is put it in reverse, and then pull back into drive and it catches.....but its never been a problem for me...sorry I cant help..
