C-Code Convertible with GT package

Hi,

I am considering to buy a '66 convertible that's for sale in my area, however, being a lot into originality, I am disturbed by the fact that it is described (and looks like) a c-code with all the GT package features, i.e. exhaust tips through the rear valance, GT badges, fog lamps, etc.

My understanding is that only A- or K-codes could be ordered with the GT equipment group - is that correct or were there exceptions?

What would be a safe way to identify if the GT stuff on this car was actually mounted at the factory? The VIN says it is a true C-code.

Thank you,

A.G.

There may have been some C-code GTs made.
They also had some upfitted at the dealerships.
Check this link out.

I've seen funny things on those old Stangs before.
Hope the link helps.

Thank you karman - that was helpful indeed.

Actually, I decided to go for a 2007 Mustang instead for now, but with this information I may go and have a closer look at the other offer nonetheless.

Would really be interesting to see if this is such a "factory" C-code GT.

Thanks again,

A.G.
