As Cloney stated in another thread, something is WORTH exactly what YOU will give for it. That may be less or more than someone else would. Don't depend on us, people who are seeing the same pictures you are, to make the decision for you. We'll be glad to help with questions but we can't gauge what a car is worth based on that. Pictures can hide A LOT.

You're first step should be to read the FAQs above. There is a section for new buyers that has A LOT of good information in it.

Secondly, NEVER buy a car that you, or someone you trust is knowledgable, can inspect in person. Otherwise you're buying a pig in a poke and will probably be disappointed when you recieve your "prize".

 

The meaning of worth to an individual and worth to the general market is different. I might be willing to pay 60 grand for a 05 GT Convertible fully loaded, but that doesn't make the car worth that in a general sense.

So, no, worth is not exactly what you will give for it.

Pictures can hide a lot, but it doesn't hurt to have many eyes looking at them. I've seen many examples here where someone points out something that the original poster did not see. No, it's never a good thing. Other people can also give you tips on what to inspect further when you view the car in person.

And I'll agree that never buy a car that you cannot inspect personally or get inspected by someone you trust.

That's exactly what he is saying. That car is worth 60 grand to you because that's what you'd pay for it. Would I pay 60 grand for it? Nope, so it is worth less to me.

As my Mom points out, something isn't worth anything unless you sell it! And it is worth exactly what you can sell it for.

I think we can all agree that any estimate we could give without a thorough inspection and good knowlege of the market the buyer is in is a very rough guess. That said, as long as the person seeking advice is aware of that, our rough guesses can still be a useful tool.

A good solution is to give a range. $X if the car is as perfect as the pics make the car look, $Y if there are as many hidden problems as our experience tells us there could be.

my car is worth about 10 to 13, but to me it's worht 50,000 i'll never get it. but thats what it's worth to me
