68 fastback casting numbers

68 fastback casting numbers

Just bought a 68 and was curious about the casting number on the top of the block in the rear... Just below were the intake rest ... The number is 12566625. Can anyone tell me what this is?

Maybe I'm wrong but I think the casting number would start with c8.

Casting number is behind the starter on SB V8s. Could be part of the VIN; they started stamping all blocks in '68, but they end in 6 numbers, not 8.
