if i had a block i`d just give it to you .. everybody wants to make a zillion dollars off someone ..when i have something for sale it aint worth diddly but when i need something it`s worth its weight in gold ..

I have a pan on the way, we haven't taken off the heads to see if we can use them or not. We are currently taking apart my old DD to replace the head gaskets.

Dad is gonna call LMR about the engine tomorrow, that is probably the one we will order. We took the heads off and it seems water got in the #5 cylinder and might have caused the failure. The heads are good however, so all I need is a short block to get back on the road.

water will cause bent rods and it would have to be alot of water all of a suddon. a slow leak would just burn out, but i dont see it causing the bolts to back off..
I think the nuts were not torqued and they backed off, the water in #5 is just another problem that didnt help..

This is why we think water got into the cylinder. Its the only one looking like this, they were all mostly black when I put them in.

The new one cost me $450 with everything on it. I took off the fuel injection, A/C, power steering, air pump, and smog. Then replaced the serpentine setup with my v-belts.
Fuel injection is too much money to convert these old cars over. The harness by itself is still like $600. For carb all I had to do was run maybe 1-2 extra wires. Carb is also easier to tune.
