1966 problem

I have read the meesages about the point gap for a 66 200 cid. It says it should be at 19-21k. I set my gap to the specs and it is still running poorly. The timing is also to within spec I think. The car is hard to start, very rough idle, and stalls periodically. Any suggestions?

Keep changin' stuff until it is all new.
If you have old wires or distributor cap etc. start with the cheapest stuff to replace and see what happens.
This is the easiest way out if you aren't knowledgeable about diagnosing stuff.
And you really should replace any really old parts anyway.
If you tell us more (like what is already newly replaced), maybe we can help figure out what is going on with your car.

I just added an electronic ignition to solve the point problem and anything else that goes along with it.

Of course, this is a good idea.
I am just kinda old school and very used to playing with points etc.

I have replaced almost everyting on the distributer points, cap rotor wires plugs and nothing seems to work. Carb was rebuilt also. I am just trying to get the car running good for my son to learn how to drive and it seems like something doesn't want him to learn lol

I assume that means you replaced the condenser also.
At least its the car that's slowing him down.
My oldest 2 boys had to be pushed to get licensed after age 18.

If it starts hard your timing might be high. What do you have it set at? Mine started hard until I lowered the timing, now it starts fine.

You might want to ask this question on the fordsix forums, since they know alot about 6cyls. They helped me with my 200 when I was having trouble.

I have the 1 to 2 bbl adapter on my 6cyl with the progressive Holley/Weber 2bbl carb and a modified throttle linkage.
