Weird noise when cruising at 70mph?
I live in New York City Queens, I just made a trip today to Penn. On my way back I was cruising at about 70-75mph on the NJ turnpike when I heard this noise. The noise sounds like small rocks are hitting the car. It seems to be coming from the passenger's side window. It is not loud it just sounds like very small pebbles are hitting the car. There were no pebbles on the highway and this is a noise that I hear continuously when I'm going 70mph+. I was thinking maybe it's the pressure of the wind hitting the window. Both my windows were closed and the AC was on. Do you think there is a broken seal on my passenger side window? or do you think it's something else? I have a 2012 mustang gt stick premium with 1500 miles on it, thanks in advance.

It could also be the inside door handle. The door lock pin will rattle and the rod that it is screwed on to. I took the door panel off and wrapped a piece of tape around the shaft and the rattle went away.

Remove the passenger...
Door handle is a possible for sure. Also, got anything in the door storage pockets? Had a pill wrapper the wife left and it drove me crazy for a couple days.

I recommend you bring your vehicle in to your Ford dealer for diagnosis. If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to message me so I can reopen your case.

thing is it's hard to replicate. I'd have to be driving 70mph continuously. In NYC the high way speed limit is 50mph. I was on the NJ turn pike doing 70mph when I heard this. The speed limit there is 65mph

Wind noises, tire noises, and many other things change at speed......I know from this weekend, 125 sounds a lot different than 70 and that sounds a lot different than 45......that is also disregarding the voice level changes from the passenger seat. lol

From another forum:
Well I think I've found it. I removed all four of those little rectangle plastic clips they put over the drains at the bottom of the door and the noise is gone. So I'm posting just in case someone else hears such a road noise.
Looks like another board posting was trying to figure out what they are really for anyway... seems like a good question:
