Flat Rock idle next week
In addition to the Kentucky plant, Ford said it is also idling its Flat Rock, Mich., plant for one week starting Monday. That shutdown is in response to building Mustang inventories. The auto maker had more than 116-days worth of supply at the end of March, far above the 60- to 80-day supply it traditionally keeps

I read it as idling truck plants to build mustangs but I could be just optimistic. As many people that are waiting on stangs as well as very few on lots has it hard for me to believe that they have a 116 day supply of mustangs.

Yeah I do have a window sticker. My dealer has been completely honest with me this far so I have no reason to believe they would be lieing to me, its just weird they would have different info.

I'm not sure where I find the build date on it. I could be blind though....

The 1 in front of It threw me off, thanks! May 1st seems a pretty far out if its made on the 13th though. I wonder if I can get them to change it since the 13th is pretty unlucky.

I was checking orders this morning and the weekly commodities constraint letter showed that no Mustangs would be scheduled for production this week - retail, stock, or otherwise.
Ford is only selling about 4,000 Mustangs per month. A 116 day supply would be roughly 16,000 Mustangs on dealer lots. There are about 3,500 Ford dealers, so there are an average of 4 or 5 Mustangs per dealer right now. We have 7 where I work - 5 2011's, and 2 2012's - but, we're selling four or five per month, so we'll run out next month at this pace.
And Mustang is not the only model we're running out of. We are sold out of Expeditions, Navigators, Town Cars, and Explorers. We are nearly sold out of Fiestas, Foci, F-150, Super Duties, Edges, Taurus, and all other Lincolns. The only models we have a lot of are Fusions and Escapes. Ford has really been cutting back production, leaving us to trade inventory with other dealers daily to satisfy demand.
To add to this problem, today's memo also noted that Ford is exhausting supplies or Tuxedo Black, Red Candy, Bordeaux Red, Sangria Red, and Royal Red due to pigment supply issues from Japan. This really puts a damper on color choices going forward until Ford can find new suppliers for these pigments.

Unfortunately, that is the reason everyone's build date has jumped from 4/4 to 4/11. Let's all hope this is the only production delay we see.

Weird, Ford had good sales too, but I guess that wasn't so much in truck and Mustang land. Mustangs sold good this past month, but there's two months of low sales still to make up for.
