That's a good idea...
And yes I have, for me the big one is my car no longer squeaks!! Other than that the ride feels very firm and planted.

+1 on the LCA impressions

also, how bright is the LED third brake light? Mines broken and I've been thinking of buying one of the tinted LED third brake lights off ebay. Plus it'll match the recently tinted tailights

I say get it either way. I hate seeing a car with tinted tails, and the 3rd brake light just glaring back at me as brightly as possible.

The one i got is from latmodelrestoration.com and it is decently bright, definitely alot brighter than the stock one, but not obnoxiously bright.

Cars going to the shop today, there has always been a slight roaring from the diff, but ever since the lca install it has gotten loader and worse. I cannot even mute it out now, and from a dead stop to acceleration you hear a clunking noise. I think its bad bearings and a loose pinon.. What do yall think??

Sounds like what I had a couple years ago. Probably just a loose ring and pinion. I never looked inside it, but the guy who bought it from me had it fixed in an hour.

They are going to have to dig into the rear, which probably means dropping it. Shouldnt be too bad but not extremely cheap either.

Well this is ridiculous.. the problem was a bad pinion bearing. I got quoted $810 to replace that single bearing... idk what to do. thats not going to happen.

You could find a whole used rear for less than half that. Check Craigslist for someone parting out a 99-04 GT. They usually go for about 300 bucks around me.

shoot man..

at that point i might look for a new axle. you can probably get one from a wrecked GT for not nearly that much.

ebay has a few in the 5-700 range. I'm sure one at a local wrecking yard would be even cheaper

edit: lol great minds

Im looking on craigslist right now, i actually have and add "wtb 8.8 for mustang 99-04" and it isnt getting musch attention.. I called another performance shop around me and they quoted me $800, but they will replace all the bearings and the ring and pinion with what ever ratio i want.

Might as well just get new gears for 800 if that includes the parts as well and you can't find an axle. I know for my gear swap with all parts included (gears shim kit oil) it was about 800 after labor. If they have to replace them you might as well upgrade and get some fun out of it.

the other shop sounds like a much better place to deal with

but have you also searched the other nearby areas on CL?

might need to borrow a truck/uhaul or whatever, but it could be worth the trip if theres one for a few hundred out there

That's true, I'm keeping nsy eyes open. But I kinda like the idea of getting the gears and replacing the bearings, last year I had the wheel bearings replaced, so it would be a solid axle.

That's what I was afraid of. Be careful driving it like that cuz the rear could lock up while your driving and that would end very bad.

If you can, park it until you can fix it. You don't want to end up in a wall somewhere.

Yes that's the plan. Fortunately my mom is letting me share her car for the time being. Unfortunately my car will be parked for the next month or so while I try to work my butt off to save up the $$$.
