Boss 429 Mustang Tallies $220K at Auction

Chances are, if you’re a die-hard Mustang fan, you’d give anything to own one of these rare beauties in mint condition.

That is if you aren’t one of the few and fortunate that’s lucky enough to already have a ’69 Boss 429 Mustang in your collection. If not, you missed your shot, if you happened to have a spare $220,000 on hand.

This hot Candy Apple Red collectible pulled in that much when it crossed the block last weekend at Auctions America at Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, California. The 429 Boss, initially built for Ford by Kar Kraft in the sixties, is certainly worth the cash, given the storied history behind the cars and the limited number of models still around.

Touted by many as the pinnacle point for Mustang, the car featured a 429 V8 that was rated at 375-horsepower, but was believed to be closer to 500, according to some auto historians.
